Artist's Comments

This is a drawing I've done for Melanie, who used to work in our lab and is a very dear friend. I've done this in Brittany, so I was in the mood for Korrigan stuff. I got the inspiration from a book I was reading and that was mentioning theories about Ambrosius and Artorius (Arthus) being the last roman lords in Britain. I have also always been fascinated by hybrid units, soldiers that associate their standard uniform elements derived from the specific culture they originated from. So I thought, in a semi-mythical Britain, at the time of the first Germanic invasions, the Romans would probably have employed Korrigans as auxiliaries, scouts and guides, and what would look cooler than some tiny Celt with long ears and hybrid celtico-roman gear?
This should get painted one day or another (else Melanie will skin me alive), you can already see some blue color on the helmet.

Nice one,
I think at the moment it's lacking darker colours to have more contast, but thats just my opinion.
I'd like to see it finished.

Thanks ^^ I hope I'll find some time to paint it soon. My idea was that the surroundings would be quite foggy, so contrast on the final piece will probably be a bit limited...

That's right, you should probably tweak it a little in PS to achieve a stronger contrast. Also, full view is *way* too large!
As I told you, this pic is great, the concept is especially cool... I didn't know it had been done for Melanie!
:icondeartistofwar:
Ah, well in that case you do what you were doing c:

Full view issue corrected. I have also slightly edited the contrasts.
Mélanie ... I don't think you know the one I'm referring to, what did you mean?

No I probably don't know her indeed. Instead of saying "Mélanie", I suppose I could just have said "someone you know whose name is Mélanie", but I thought it amounted to the same really.
:iconarmel:
lol, ok, the reason I asked is Melanie is actually from close to your place and I have presented her to many of my friends, so I thought it could have been the case with you too, though I didn't remember when.

Where is she from exactly? I'm certain I don't know her, but I'm curious...
